License tagging for File:Carter G. Woodson School Photo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Carter G. Woodson School Photo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Speedy deletion nomination of Carter G. Woodson Middle School
[edit]A tag has been placed on Carter G. Woodson Middle School requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Johnny Partin.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Johnny Partin.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://hopewellva.gov/directory.aspx?eid=65 and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
- i thought what it meant by a us government agency tht it included local government thank you for the clearifacation and will i be able to change the catagory? Paytonisboss (talk) 14:49, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- No. The image is copyrighted, and only the copyright holder would be able to release it under a free license. As used, the image would not meet Wikipedia's non-free content criteria, and so would not be usable that way either. As a living person, a free photo of Partin could be taken even if one currently does not exist. That means that WP:NFCC#1 would not be met. -- Whpq (talk) 15:00, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- ok am I able to delete it or dose a admin have to Paytonisboss (talk) 15:03, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- You cannot delete it yourself, but you can add the tag {{db-author}} to request its deletion if it hasn't already been deleted. Whpq (talk) 15:07, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- i requested it how long you think it will take? Paytonisboss (talk) 15:24, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- I am an admin, so I have processed your request. I know it seems a little bureaucratic to have you tag it for deletion, when I know from the conversation that you want to have it deleted, but this way, the file's history has a record of your request so anybody reviewing this in the future can easily see you made the request without having to hunt down this conversation. If you have any questions about image licensing in the future, you can ask at Media copyright questions. --- Whpq (talk) 15:31, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Carter G. Woodson High School. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Sam Sailor 11:18, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- this was my 1st page move thank your for the clearifacation i wil surely do that thank you Paytonisboss (talk) 11:44, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Payton. Absolutely no problem. I probably made a cut'n'paste-move myself back in the day. And you are right, the school has been renamed, and the sources using the new name support that the article was moved to Carter G. Woodson High School. If you ever have any questions, you are always welcome to ask me on my talk page. This place is quite complex, and there's nothing wrong with asking "How do I go about such-and-such". Happy editing and have a great weekend, Sam Sailor 07:29, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Help Save The Next Girl Foundation
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Help Save The Next Girl Foundation, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of http://helpsavethenextgirl.com/. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
—C.Fred (talk) 17:35, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Draft:Help Save The Next Girl Foundation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://helpsavethenextgirl.com/. Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Paytonisboss! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:41, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Note: - It looks like you copied some of the material from the Help Save The Next Girl Foundation web site and then modified it. This is a derivative work and is a copyright violation. You should write articles in your own words. -- Whpq (talk) 17:44, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

- ok so I am gonna put it all in my own words next time but did you have to remove the draft as well? Paytonisboss (talk) 17:44, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately yes. Wikipedia's copyright policy applies in all namespaces including the draft namespace. You will need to start from scratch writing in your own words. You should have a look at WP:ORG to understand what is needed in order for there to be an article about this foundation. If you are unable find sufficient coverage in independent reliable sources to establish notability, you may want consider adding the information to the Murder of Morgan Dana Harrington article. If you need help, consider asking questions at the Teahouse. -- Whpq (talk) 17:55, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- As a member of the organization and a huge advocate for women's rights I will ask my groups representative to get everything he can on the organization if we cant get the right amount of nobility i will be happy to add it to the page about Morgan Dana Harrington Paytonisboss (talk) 18:03, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- As a member of the organisation, you have a conflict of interest. You need to follow the guidelines for an editor wit a conflict of interest. Disclose your conflict of interest. Create any article for which you have a conflict of interest as a draft and use Articles for Creation to review and promote it to article space if it meets Wikipedia's inclusion criteria for article. See below for a fuller explanation. Whpq (talk) 18:28, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Paytonisboss. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 18:29, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- ok now i feel as if we are getting somewhere with this but im not doing this to advertize as i am generally thinking that this non profit organization needs a page written about it however if it is against the content policies then i will follow these rules and just add tht the orgniztion ws founded by her prents on her page about her death if thats ok Paytonisboss (talk) 18:44, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- You should not add that directly. You should post to the talk page and specify the changes you want as an edit request. Because you have a conflict of interest, you need to follow the specific guidance at Wikipedia:Simple conflict of interest edit request. -- Whpq (talk) 19:05, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- So even if I find a lot of sources stating that the foundation was created because of her death I still can't make it due to my wikipedia:Conflict of interest Paytonisboss (talk) 19:13, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Also how am I able to archive older talk page sections Paytonisboss (talk) 19:15, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- See Help:Archiving a talk page. If you need additional help, You can ask at the Teahouse. -- Whpq (talk) 19:16, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- You cannot make the edit directly. You would make a request to add the text you have prepared along with the sourcing. Whpq (talk) 19:15, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Okay and 1 last question if tge sources are reliable and there's enough nobility can another editor say no? Paytonisboss (talk) 19:22, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- An edit request may be rejected for one or more reasons, and the reasons will be given if the request is declined. If you disagree, then you would need to work that out with the editor who declined the edit request. -- Whpq (talk) 19:59, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- ok thank you for all of this help I really appreciate it and I hope I can make more positive contributions to wikipedia in the future Paytonisboss (talk) 14:54, 27 October 2024 (UTC)

- Also how am I able to archive older talk page sections Paytonisboss (talk) 19:15, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- So even if I find a lot of sources stating that the foundation was created because of her death I still can't make it due to my wikipedia:Conflict of interest Paytonisboss (talk) 19:13, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
This page at the org's site lists dozens of reliable sources which discuss the subject at length. They aren't particularly new but they are diverse in origin so that's a good sign. I might help you assemble a neutral draft if you'd like to look through them and pick the best three or four using WP:RS as your guideline. You're looking for pages by news sources independent of the subject which directly detail the organization, not interviews or press releases. BusterD (talk) 17:36, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
- BTW there's a wikipedian who specializes in writing articles about schools like Carter G. Woodson. COI is a real thing, but it's rare a wikipedian who edits stuff that doesn't interest them. If I can help, reach out. BusterD (talk) 17:40, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
I see you tried to nominate Richmond Public Schools for deletion using WP:AFD. You did not correctly do it. You need to follow the directions at WP:AFDHOWTO. There are three steps and you need to complete all three of them to nominate it. If you don't nothing will happen. ~ GB fan 17:04, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
If on the other hand you've changed your mind, we can help you back out. You seem to misunderstand the reason for the deletion process, and this process (tagging an existing article about a notable subject) looks retaliatory. Not a good look for a new editor. BusterD (talk) 17:45, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
- alright ill look into it thank you for the help Paytonisboss (talk) 18:21, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
Non-free rationale for File:PGCPSlogo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:PGCPSlogo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 20:49, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
- where would i put the rationale in the article and can you tell me where? Paytonisboss (talk) 21:12, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
GA reviewing
[edit]As I mentioned at Talk:Atlanta Braves/GA1, you can withdraw your review and we can put this nomination back into the queue. If you choose to continue, and if you still fail to show that you are capable of reviewing a nomination, we may have to look at sanctions. All the instructions you need are at the clearly marked page; if you fail to follow them that is on you. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 23:43, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- how can i withdraw the review? Paytonisboss (talk) 10:52, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Place one of the tags at WP:G7 on the review. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:42, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- And if i choose to try to continue do i just resume the review? Paytonisboss (talk) 11:52, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- Place one of the tags at WP:G7 on the review. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:42, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
